”Satavuotias Jyväskylän Energia (JE) oli 2000-luvun alussa kehitetty rakentamis- ja tuotantokeskeisestä kaupungin sähkölaitoksesta asiakas- ja markkinakeskeiseksi energiakonserniksi. Asiakkaiden palvelu hoidettiin paikallisesti, mutta suuruuden ekonomiaa tarvittavissa toiminnoissa oli liittouduttu Keski-Suomen muiden energiayhtiöiden kanssa ja tuotannossa yhteistyökumppanina oli Fortum. Toiminta-ajatuksena oli ”Elämänlaatua Sinulle” eli ensisijaisesti jyväskyläläisille asiakasomistajille edullisesti ja laadukkaasti.
Seuraajani reivasi suunnan takaisin tuotantokeskeisyyteen. Suureksi asiaksi nostettiin uuden turvevoimalaitoksen rakentaminen Keljonlahteen ja irtautuminen tuotantokumppanista Fortumista. Fortumin saama tuotto yhteistyöstä oli murto-osa siitä, mitä JE tuloutti Jyväskylän kaupungille, mutta se herätti kateutta.
Jyväskylän edellinen kaupunginjohtaja Pekka Kettunen ei keksinyt kaupungintalouden pelastamiseen muuta keinoa kuin JE:n myynnin ja erotutti myyntiä vastustaneen hallituksen ja toimitusjohtajan. Uusi hallitus kuitenkin huomasi, ettei lypsävää lehmää kannata myydä ja sai uuden kaupunginjohtaja Markku Anderssonin uskomaan sen.
JE:n hallituksen puheenjohtajan Timo Fredriksonin mukaan aikaisemman hallituksen aikana JE:n kehittäminen oli näpertelyä. Päävoimalaitoksessa Rauhalahdessa oli 2000-luvun alussa investoitu puun lisäkäyttöön siten, että sen osuus olisi voitu nostaa puoleen polttoaineen käytöstä. Seuraavaksi oli suunnitelmissa savukaasupesurilla lisätä kaukolämmön tuotantoa, jotta öljyn käytöstä olisi päästy lähes eroon.
Aikanaan olisi energian tarpeen lisäännyttyä rakennettu toinen vastapainevoimalaitosyksikkö Rauhalahti II. Keljonlahti oli hyvä pitää varalta tulevaisuuden voimalaitospaikkana ja valttikorttina, ettei hyvä renki, mutta vaarallinen isäntä Fortum olisi päässyt sanelemaan yhteistyön ehtoja.
Näpertelyllä Fredrikson lienee tarkoittanut kahta JE:n tuotekehitysprojektia: tiedonsiirto sähköverkossa (datasähkö) ja vetytalous. Edellisestä olisi voinut syntyä miljardiliikevaihto, sillä JE:llä oli yhdessä kumppanin Soneran kanssa ko. tekniikasta yksinoikeus Pohjolaan ja Venäjälle. Kun tekniikkaa ei saatu luotettavasti pelaamaan, hanke keskeytettiin. Tuotekehityshankkeisiin käytettiin vuosittain vain parikymmentätuhatta euroa.
Vetyprojektissa seurattiin tutkimuksia vedyn käyttömahdollisuuksista tulevaisuuden energiaratkaisuissa. Käyttö on vielä kaukana mutta voi mullistaa nykyisen keskitetyn energiantuotannon. Ensimmäinen sovellutus on polttokennon käyttö sähköajoneuvoissa. Yleensäkin vasta nyt näytetään tiedostavan, että sähköautot ovat tulossa ja niiden sähkön toimitus on energiayhtiöille uusi business.
Toimitusjohtaja Juha Lappalaisen ja hallituksen puheenjohtaja Timo Fredriksonin kaudella ei ole näperrelty. Tuotantolaitosinvestointeihin ja vesilaitoskauppoihin on mennyt yli 500 miljoonaa euroa. Tämän rahoittaminen vajaan 100 miljoonan euron liikevaihdolla tuotteiden kohtuuhinnoittelulla on ”mission impossible” ja ensimmäiseksi toimitusjohtaja sai lähteä.
Toivottavasti Timo Fredrikson ymmärtää vastuunsa ja jättää paikkansa seuraavassa yhtiökokouksessa henkilölle, joka pystyy puheenjohtajan roolissa pelastamaan sen, mitä pelastettavissa on. Muuten on vaara, että pelastajaksi tulee Fortum tai Vattenfall. Kuuluuko Jyväskylän Energia sarjaan: ”Miten tuhotaan jyväskyläläiset yritykset?”

Seikkaikusta lipesi hyvän sään aikana Osuuskauppa Keskimaa ja siinä lienee vielä mukana bulvaanien kautta Keskisuomalainen-konserni.
Sinänsä energian myyminen on kannattavaa bisnestä, mutta jos kustannukset riistäytyvät käsistä, niin maksumiehet eli asukkaat nousevat kapinaan ja se on sitten menoa vaikka suomalaiset ovat tunnetusti kilttejä ja unohtavia päättäjien töppäilyille. Sama meno jatkuu vuodesta toiseen ja kaikenlainen rakentamis- ja kaavoitusbisneksen juoksupoikien ja -tyttöjen hillitön meno vain yltyy.
Kymmenen vuotta sitten vauhdissa oli kaupunginjohtaja Pekka Kettunen, nyt kaupunginjohtaja Markku Andersson. Hiukan maistiaisia Kettusesta, Andersson-linkit sitten myöhemmin!
